PRIVACY -
A CRITICAL COMPONENT

Most photographers today do all of their shooting in public areas where they have little or no privacy.  But, if given a choice, people being photographed prefer privacy, especially if suggestive and risqué work is being done.  This is where a well-equipped studio comes in…especially if that studio is using projected virtual backgrounds.  By working in the studio, whether it be a portable or fixed operation, the subject can relax in maximum privacy and be comfortable that they’re going to get the very best possible results.

CORRECTING A MISTAKE WE MADE

In the July issue of The Backgrounder we stated that Grace Kihara in Nairobi Kenya had her Scene Machine virtual background system for 10 years.  She corrected us.  She has been using virtual projected backgrounds for more than 20 years and has helped us to sell systems to a number of other Kenyan photographers.   Andrew Grace Kihara has moved into digital.

What’s Right with Virtual Projected Backgrounds Compared To Green Screen?

1.  Photographer sees both the subject and background live in the camera viewfinder.
2.  Photographer poses the subject to the background and adjusts the background to the subject
3.  Photographer has total control of the background…selection, brightness, focus, relative size, color balance and contact…all adjustable instantly.
4.  Photographer can present previews to subject immediately…even immediately after each exposure.
5.  The virtual projected background technology is new, fascinating and even awe inspiring to the public.  It helps to make the photographer really special.

CONTROL - ANOTHER CRITICAL COMPONENT

When shooting on location, a photographer has little or no control over the weather, the lighting, the wind, the rain, and so much more.  Virtual projected backgrounds brings the photographer maximum control of all the elements, enabling the photographer to get the very best possible results with maximum variety, without ever having to leave the privacy of the studio.  Want a windblown look, turn on an electric fan.  Want more dramatic lighting, just adjust the lights.  Want a wide variety of backgrounds, just take seconds to change the projected background.  Want privacy…you’ll never get more.  Learn more about projected virtual backgrounds at www.virtualbackgroundsphotography.com

THINK YOU ARE TOO SMALL TO INVEST IN VIRTUAL PROJECTED BACKGROUNDS
 THINK AGAIN!

Most professional photographers today think they are too small to even think about having a studio let alone a virtual projected background system.  But, in actuality, having a studio area, even if it is only a temporary set up in a living room, basement, or garage or on location somewhere it is extremely important and having a virtual protected background system in their “studio” is the key to being clearly different from all others with ultimate creativity to impress clients.

A workable studio does not have to be at all expensive and it places you in a category by yourself compared with other photographers and amateurs who only work on location taking snapshots.  A studio, equipped with a projected virtual background system, enables one to easily bring a whole world of indoor, outdoor, and graphic backgrounds to your operation.  An appropriate background can be a very important component in creating a unique quality portrait.  And again, amateurs, your primary competition, don’t have studios, do not have virtual backgrounds, and don’t have the know-how and creativity to make it all work.

If you are really serious about your photography, it time you investigated the possibilities of moving to the next level.  It doesn’t totally replace your on location shooting…it just enhances it for your client enabling you to provide a wider range of “looks” from formal to informal in the complete privacy of your studio.  And privacy can be very important.

Take a few moments to start your exploration into the next level of professional photography.

HIGH SPEED SYNC MADE BETTER WITH PROJECTED VIRTUAL BACKGROUNDS

There is a lot of excitement about improving location photography with a high speed sync arrangement with a single battery powered flash.  The results really make a subject “pop” while capturing the dynamics of the background.  But there is a better more general way to get even better results without leaving your studio and that comes with using projected virtual backgrounds.

Better than high speed sync on location?  Absolutely because with projected virtual backgrounds, the photographer has total instantaneous control of everything without traveling to different locations and having to use assistants to help.  With projected backgrounds, the photographer has completely separate control of the background and the subject.  First they can light and pose the subject in whatever ways they determine is best but then they have total control over the background.  Not only can they make it darker or lighter to get the “pop” or effect they are after, they can instantly change the background to anything they want it to be.  In minutes the photographer can use 10 or more backgrounds, all completely different and enhancing.

High speed sync is great but using projected virtual backgrounds enables the photographer to be far more creative right in the comfort of their camera room.   The only place where high speed sync has any advantage is when doing some full length model portfolio type images.  They are often best done on location but for everything else. Projected virtual backgrounds wins hands down.

THIS STORY FROM CALIFORNIA PHOTOGRAPHER BILL HODGE CLEARLY SHOWS HOW IMPORTANT VIRTUAL BACKGROUNDS IS TO HIS EVERYDAY STUDIO OPERATION!

WILLIAM HODGE PANICS –
HIS SCENE MACHINE STOPS WORKING SOLVES HIS OWN PROBLEM  -  PLUG LOOSE

PictureWilliam Hodge
"Quoting Bill Hodge"
"Staring at my Virtual Backgrounds remote control I only see eight eyes staring back at me, digits I'm unfamiliar with, 888.8. What?

I know it's a bad omen but thankfully I don't have to think too much about it. I just finished a portrait session using black screen (no VB light projecting) for a black-and-white portrait. But this lack of controls isn't good.  I use my Virtual Background system, well, virtually for everything I create in the studio. This piece of equipment is important.

But no problem, I'll just turn it off and reboot! Turn it on. 888.8 still on the screen.

Well this is lousy, I have customers coming in tomorrow morning and this thing needs to work.  One more idea.

Pull the power cord!  This should do it.  I power up and still see those eight eyes peering back at me from the display screen, 888.8.

It's a good thing I purchased an extra power source from Virtual Backgrounds last year. I'll pull the old power source out as a backup unit.

As I'm disconnecting cables from the errant power source I notice the remote control cable isn't completely connected, it has some electricity but no data transfer control. Problem solved, snuggle the plug into it's hole.  But how to keep it from happening again?

Take a look at my solution, a photographer's good friend, gaffer's tape! Back in business.  Another solution, have a back up power source for your VB system."

50% Off All Sets of Slides in Stock!

One of the most important components for success with Virtual Backgrounds is the proper selection of background slides, not just any scenic slide will work. In fact, postcard type images seldom work. Background slides must be carefully composed so they add important and complimentary dimensions to a photograph without detracting from the subject. Never judge a slide by how pretty it looks by itself.  http://www.virtualbackgroundsphotography.com/slides1.html
